Pair Pay

2025

One of my friends was frustrated with using Splitwise to settle finances with their partner, and built an app to avoid Splitwise’s aggressive ads. The first version of the app was functional, but was clunky to navigate.

After having built up my design skills with Figma, I felt that this would be a perfect opportunity to put my design skills to the test.

We met so that I could get more detail on his app and think about what direction we wanted to go. Unlike Splitwise, his app only allowed for one connection and was meant for couples. We landed on calling it “Pair Pay”.

I first worked on gathering inspiration from other finance apps I had used, starting of course with Splitwise but also Venmo and CashApp. This gave me a basis for thinking about the layout and flows for the app.

I then got to work redesigning the screens that my friend had created to be cleaner and more production ready. I used green as the primary tone for the app (because green means “money”) and kept the layout simple, with large buttons and text sizes.

We are currently in the processing of finishing the app, and will be launching it to the app store soon.
